Welcome Message from the CEO of Taiwan Festival

The tremendous success of the inaugural Taiwan Festival in 2012 would not have been possible without the strong support from Australian and Taiwanese Governments, Queensland State Government, Brisbane City Council, corporate sponsors, honorary supervisors and advisors, Taiwanese community leaders and associations, food stall operators, volunteers and all the participants and visitors.

As the Chief Operating Officer last year, what touched my heart and made me take on the great challenge of organising the Taiwan Festival in 2013 was not just the successful outcomes we achieved but the whole process in preparation for this amazing celebration of multicultural Queensland. The feedback from last year was overwhelming, I constantly bump into stall holders asking when will be Taiwan Festival this year? Working holiday visa holders and students from Taiwan who volunteered last September kept on wanting to come back to support this worthwhile event; Government and Corporate sponsors approaching us directly wanting this proposal early so they could plan for their involvements; or those visitors who discovered ‘Taiwan’ in Brisbane and appreciated our culture and wanted to learn more.

This year we received our first State Government Grant through Multicultural Queensland Partnership Program and will be part of the inaugural Queensland Multicultural Week, as well as even greater support from the Brisbane City Council Parkinson Ward to hold this year’s festival at Calamvale Community Sporting Field. We have the foundation to make 2013 Taiwan Festival another great success but we do need your support, sponsorship and participation.

Thank you and look forward to seeing you at the Festival!
